Orenda Films honours the lands, waters, and peoples across Turtle Island. Based on the traditional territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən peoples now known as the Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations, our work extends across the ancestral homelands of Indigenous Nations coast to coast to coast.

Synopsis

Stories have power. They shape how we see the world, each other, and ourselves. They can challenge, heal, and ignite action. We exist to harness that power. Orenda Films was built on the belief that diverse perspectives create better work. As a Métis and 2-Spirit owned company, we exist in the in-between spaces — Indigenous and colonial, masculine and feminine, traditional and contemporary.

This isn't a contradiction. It's a gift.

It means we can walk into any room, any community, any boardroom and find common ground. It means we see stories others miss. It means we bring a fluidity to our work that allows us to connect across boundaries that often divide.

Development

Every film begins as a question. We sit with the story — its purpose, its people, its stakes — and shape it into something built to last. Research first. Vision second. Nothing on set that wasn't earned in the room.

Pre-Production

This is where chaos becomes a plan. Scheduling, location, crew, kit, logistics — we lock every detail so the shoot runs clean. Show up prepared, or don't show up.

Production

Cameras roll and instinct takes over. World-class tools, world-class glass — but the frame is everything. We catch the moment others walk past.

Post-Production

The story is found in the edit. Colour, sound, rhythm, restraint — we shape raw footage into something that moves. This is where it becomes a film.
